ConsignR's Shopify integration provides seamless, near real-time synchronization between your inventory management system and your Shopify store. With automatic product creation, live inventory updates, and bi-directional order sync, you can manage your entire operation from ConsignR while maintaining a powerful presence in Shopify.
How the Sync Works
ConsignR operates as the source of truth for your inventory. When you manage items in ConsignR, changes automatically flow to Shopify. When sales, returns or other order edits happen in Shopify, they're automatically synced back to ConsignR.
Dual Product System
For each unique item in ConsignR, the system creates two products in your Shopify store:
POS Product – A scannable item optimized for your Shopify POS system. This product does not appear on your online store.
Webstore Product – A "merged" listing optimized for online shopping, combining similar items for a better customer experience.
What Syncs from ConsignR to Shopify
The following data automatically syncs from ConsignR to your Shopify store:
Item creation – New active items are immediately created in Shopify
Item updates – Price changes, inventory adjustments, and product details
Item removals – Deleted or deactivated items are removed from Shopify
What Syncs from Shopify to ConsignR
Changes made in Shopify do not sync back to ConsignR with one important exception:
Sales and Returns Only
Order processing – Sales from Shopify POS automatically sync to ConsignR
Returns/Exchanges – Return transactions sync back to update inventory
Multi-location support – Orders from all connected POS systems sync to ConsignR
Product changes, price updates, or inventory adjustments made directly in Shopify will be overwritten by ConsignR. Always make these changes in ConsignR to maintain data integrity.
Common Questions
Will orders from each of my POS systems sync back to ConsignR?
Yes. All sales and returns from your connected Shopify POS locations automatically sync to ConsignR, regardless of which terminal processed the transaction.
What happens if I edit a product in Shopify?
Product and item changes made in Shopify will not sync back to ConsignR and will be overwritten during the next sync. Make all product changes in ConsignR to ensure they persist.
Do I need to manually create items in Shopify?
No. When you create or receive an active item in ConsignR, it automatically appears in your Shopify POS system.
How do I stop an item from syncing to Shopify?
Change the item's status to anything other than active in ConsignR. The item will be removed from Shopify.
