Consignment Workflow

A comprehensive guide to using ConsignR's consignment work-flow.

Updated over 2 months ago

Overview

We make consignment easy here at ConsignR! It's in our company name. After reading this article, you will understand the consignment workflow at ConsignR and use it to its fullest potential.

Enabling Deliveries

โ€‹You can enable/disable deliveries from the Consignment Settings page.

With deliveries enabled, consignors and the store will be able to use the consignment work flow detailed below.

We strongly recommend stores to enable deliveries. Without deliveries enabled, sellers will simply create items and request for approval of those items on the store side without the added guard rails and benefits of the workflow.

Delivery WorkFlow

Everything discussed within this section is with the delivery option enabled in settings. We will go through the work flow step by step from both the seller and store side.

Step 1. Seller Creates a Delivery

The first step in the consignment workflow is the seller creating a delivery.

Above the seller goes through the steps of adding an item to a delivery:

  1. Choose a store location to delivery the item to.

  2. Type in the name of the item and fill out any missing details.

  3. Select the size and desired pricing of the item.

    1. There is additional info the seller can use to gage what they should price their item at to better follow the pricing found at the store.

  4. Save the item for delivery.

We offer an alternative form for this first step called "Simple Sell Flow" that is a lot more detail oriented. You can read about it here.

Once the seller has added all the items they want to send in for delivery, they can look over their items on the final confirmation page.

Within the page, they can change details about the delivery such as store location and pricing of items. Once they've confirmed everything, the delivery request will be sent to the store for approval.

Step 2. Store Approves of Delivery

After the seller submits the delivery for approval, the store is able to look over the contents of the delivery and approve / deny the items within it. Any denied items will no longer be included in the delivery.

Step 3. Seller Delivers the Items

Within the same page where the seller submitted the request for approval, the seller can view which items were approved and denied. All denied items must not be included in the delivery from here on out.

If the seller chose drop off as the delivery method, they simply need to bring the items to the store for final processing.

If the seller chose shipping for the delivery method, they can view the shipping instructions (if any are provided) under the shipping details box. Additionally, a packing slip for deliveries can be generated by clicking the top right button.

After the seller has shipped the items, they can type in the tracking number for the delivery as shown above for both the seller and store to see.

You can write shipping instructions for all deliveries that are shipped within the Store Settings page.

Step 4. Store Performs Final Processing

Once the items have arrived to the physical store / processing location, the store is able to do one final check on the items.

From the same delivery page, the store can accept / reject shoes after finally seeing them in person. Additionally, pricing and other details of the items can be adjusted accordingly.
โ€‹
All items that are accepted during this final stage will be recorded in your inventory and all rejected items should be returned to the seller accordingly.

You can bulk print all of the labels of accepted items using the "Bulk Print Labels" button on the top right corner to speed up processing onto the sales floor.

Without Delivery Workflow

If you did not enable deliveries, sellers will simply create items in their inventory list, and stores can accept / deny the items from the inventory table.

This is a lot less involved, but it is an option for stores who don't need the whole work flow for their stores.
